Attorney General Marstella Jack gives Janhabi her last payment, a small Yapese stone money (No longer a currency? And when did that change?)
So far from everything...

Sebastian's first kiss to a girl... Not yet charming as a real Italian... must be his US genes
Meeting at the Village with the MIC Review Team. From left, Audrey Newman, Jason Spensley, myself, Bruce Boyd and Lu Overhoff
Many hikes up Sokehs Ridge
Cars left to rust everywhere. Not sure how this ended up on top of a ditch.
Someone slashed the fuel hose of my car to get the gas (twice!)

It's a great feeling to hug a true friend at the airport of a remote island: Ryan at Ant, in visit from Washington, DC
Bye bye to Stacey. Despite the smiles tragedy had just struck our small community. It was an incredibly sad time.
Janhabi tries Sebastian's new bed
What a hard work to clean those shells...
Our container finally arrives after 7 months!
The beautiful sunsets at the Village
Matt sworns-in after passing the Bar. On the left Emilio, acting Attorney General at that time. He will pass away a year later.
The TNC office on the second floor. Below it, the Bank of Guam with the only ATM machine in the FSM. Finding another one requires a 4 hour flight to Guam.

GOODBYES to MICRONESIA

We left Pohnpei for good on May 14, 2007. Before that Monday morning we had the opportunity to say many goodbyes to the friends we made in those two years and 8 months spent on that lush, hot, beautiful and incredibly interesting tropical island.

Our travel bag

This blog gets its name from a quote by Alexander Solzhenitzyn, the great Russian novelist and Nobel Laureate:

"Own only what you can carry with you; know language, know countries, know people. Let your memory be your travel bag."

Unfortunately, we own way more that we can carry with us and over the years our travel bags have turned into a container that we keep moving around the world. The blog is to share some of the memories with our friends, many of whom have to be blamed for that container.
